Lisa A. Cheney
Executive Coach
Welcome to the crossroads of neuroscience and executive coaching, where your journey to peak performance begins. I'm Lisa, your guide to a thriving professional life. My mission is to empower you, the driven professional, to harness your full potential without the shadow of burnout looming over your success.
My Expertise
Certified in High Flow Coaching, I utilize a neuroscience-backed approach to unlock peak performance and holistic well-being. My expertise, enhanced by a diverse professional background spanning physical therapy, law, and executive leadership, provides me with a deep understanding of the pressures and challenges unique to various professional environments. This journey, however, took a pivotal turn when I personally encountered burnout, adding a profound layer to my insights.
My Journey
My professional path is a tapestry of varied, deeply personal experiences that have profoundly shaped my coaching philosophy. My tenure as Vice President of Clinical Operations at Nizhoni Health Systems, where I led initiatives that significantly improved patient care amidst fear, chaos, and stress in 2020, was a pivotal chapter. This role, alongside my achievements driving significant growth as a Director at Bayada Home Health Care and managing my own legal practice in bankruptcy law, has endowed me with a comprehensive understanding of the challenges faced in diverse professional environments. Yet, it was my personal encounter with burnout in 2021, fueled by my unwavering drive and determination, that reshaped my perspective on the delicate balance between high performance and personal health. This blend of professional achievements and personal revelations now underpins my commitment to empowering others to navigate their paths without succumbing to burnout.
Beyond Professional Boundaries

Outside the realm of my professional accomplishments, my life has been equally filled with rigorous athletic challenges. My dedication to completing 5 Ironmans and over 25 marathons, including 12 Boston Marathons, exemplifies my commitment to pushing physical and mental boundaries. While these endeavors were driven by a positive spirit and a pursuit of excellence, they also added layers of 'good' stress to an already demanding lifestyle. This aspect of my life, in its intensity, inadvertently contributed to the cumulative stress that led to my burnout. Reflecting on this, I recognize the importance of not just pursuing challenges but also maintaining a careful balance. My athletic journey, therefore, serves as a powerful lesson in understanding the nuances of stress – both in its empowering and overwhelming forms. It underscores a key aspect of my coaching philosophy: the significance of mindful engagement in all areas of life to prevent burnout while still pursuing excellence.
The Dual Edge of Drive
The very drive and determination that propelled me to professional success also ushered me into the depths of burnout, offering a stark revelation: our greatest strengths can also be our vulnerabilities. Embracing this duality, I've refocused my passion towards empowering individuals to navigate the delicate interplay between stress and success.
